Westbury November 2023 Recap

Due to the holiday schedule, the regular Board meeting was held on December 7. 2023 and the next tentatively scheduled regular Board meeting will be held on January 25, 2024.

The treasurer’s report was provided for October 2023. November’s report will be provided at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting.

Electrical upgrades continue to wait on GMP to connect the transformers. The 5 priority leach field replacements have begun and will be completed the week of 12/11/23, weather permitting.

Please inspect your heat tape to make sure it is working efficiently.

If you will be away from home for an extended length of time it is recommended that you leave your thermostat at 55 to 60 degrees.

Leaving under the sink cabinets open is recommended to help keep pipes from freezing during frigid weather.

Due to additional costs charged for the common area composting service being contaminated with non-compostable material, the service will be discontinued as of January 1, 2024.

The wastewater/sewer field study will begin during the end of Winter/early Spring funded by the ARPA Healthy Home grant Westbury was awarded this past Summer.

The maintenance committee continues to do grounds maintenance, repairs, and vehicle and equipment maintenance. Catch basins are being inspected. Workshed roof repair was completed. Small tree and branch removal that present potential hazards have been attended to and continued inspection will be done throughout the Winter.

The Volunteer/Social Committee is hosting a Holiday Decoration contest for Westbury residents. Judging will be performed on December 23, 2023, after dark. Details have been posted in the mailroom. The social committee requested the Board approve a policy change and will begin meeting quarterly beginning April, July, October & January on the second Thursday of the month coordinating a minimum of 4 events annually.

Social event suggestions are welcome and can be placed in the drop box underneath the wall file in the mailroom.

The Rules & Bylaws Committee Chair position is vacant. Please contact G pezzo at [email protected] if you are a co-op member and have an interest in the position.

Welcome to our new neighbor Greg F – Wellington Street

The Village Ribbon cutting ceremony and the first Village of Westbury meeting to elect the Board of Trustees occurred on November 11, 2023. Rep Curt Taylor spoke at the ceremony and Erhard Mahnke from Senator Sander’s team spoke once the meeting was called to order. Approximately 40 guests were in attendance. The newly formed Board of Trustees had called a special meeting on 2 occasions to become acquainted, begin developing village goals, and discuss meeting protocols and schedules. Open meeting laws are applied to the Village of Westbury meetings. The Village Trustees will provide the required notices and communications surrounding Village business moving forward.
