REMINDER: Reflective House Numbers
WHAI Members,
Last year the membership voted overwhelmingly in favor of adopting a rule that every home must display reflective house numbers. This was to help fire and rescue crews locate homes quickly and accurately. Since this rule was adopted, there are still a number of homes that do not display the correct numbers.
Beginning May 1st 2023 the rule will begin being actively enforced.
Lowes, Home Depot, or Ace Hardware has reflective numbers to purchase.
Rust-Oleum specialty reflective spray – clear You can paint the numbers you already have if the numbers are large enough
Colchester Rescue’s recommendation:
- Large – Minimum of 3” in height
- Reflective – To be seen at night when shining a light
- Contrasting to their background – Black number on a white wall, white number on a dark wall
- Visible area – To be seen from sitting in a car from the roadway at or near the driveway, this could be out near the road on a post or on the house high enough that parked cars do not block them
FYI
Rescue Chief drove through the park the week of April 10th and would like to let you know that they appreciate the efforts we are making to help make their response time easier and more effective.
Thanks for your cooperation
